Isn't Pilates only for women?
Pilates was created by a man originally for men. Men can benefit from Pilates by improving athletic performance and increasing joint range of motion to help prevent injuries.

What is the difference between Pilates and weight training?
Pilates is exercise in the real world of movement. It strengthens the muscles and stabilizes the joints in all planes of motion to simulate everyday activities. It keeps your body flexible, strong, and useful.

Is Pilates expensive?
Compared to personal training and the cost of club memberships, Pilates is very competitive and can fit any budget. Especially when you consider the personal attention and benefit that Pilates offers as opposed to working out independently.

I've recently suffered an injury, can I still do Pilates?
Most injuries are best served by beginning to move the affected area almost immediately. Pilates loads the tissues and joints with control and without impact. Injuries will heal faster and get you back to your normal routine - likely with more strength than you had before.

Don't I need to be flexible to do Pilates?
Flexibility is not a prerequisite for Pilates. The beauty of human anatomy is that strength and flexibility are adjustable. People with stiff muscles and inflexible joints are perfect candidates for Pilates.

Can Pilates help me lose weight?
Similar to strength training, Pilates done on a regular basis increases the metabolic rate which in turn helps the body burn calories at a higher rate.

How can I join classes?
For your safety and for smooth progression of classes, private instruction or an intro series must be completed prior to joining reformer classes. Typically only 3 private sessions are needed to join beginning or all level classes for those new to Pilates. For those already familiar with the reformer the requirement may be reduced or eliminated depending on experience and/or ability.

What if I'm not sure that I will like or benefit from Pilates?
Rocky Mountain Pilates offers a free 30-minute reformer session to all new clients regardless of experience (one per customer). That way, you can experience Pilates without any obligation.

Is there a long term commitment?
No. You can pay as you go, or purchase punchcards to be used as often as you like. Visit www.rmpilates.com for price lists and packaged deals.
